Well I am in a dorm that has restriected internet with firewalls, and you need to register devices through a browser to acess the internet, and we can have only one registered device.I found out a way to get on LIVE by putting the IP address and conection info of my laptop, that is registered, manually into my Xbox. It works but I overheard somebody one day saying that they can connect through WIndows Media Center? I Googled it and found nothing and was wondering if anyone here knows anything about this. Thanks for all the help.Xbox LIVE Connection options
I seem to remember having heard that it's possible to connect the Xbox to the internet via plugging it into a PC/laptop (using the ethernet ports, obviously) and sort of ''piggybacking'' over the computer's connection. I've never tried it and I'm not sure how you need to configure your software... or if it lags your connection at all, but I think it can be done.I've never heard of anything specifically involving Media Center though. Maybe someone else here can help you more, but regardless here's a free bump.Xbox LIVE Connection options
Thanks, but I know that technique and you need a wireless connection on the laptop which I cant get cause we are not allowed to have wireless routers or extend a connection. But thanks for trying.

What do you mean? You can't even run a physical ethernet cable from the router or modem to your 360? That is the best option. I do it and it's great, even though it's a pain having to unroll and roll up a 50' cable every time I play on Xbox Live.
I do run a ethernet cable to connect to Xbox LIVE. But to connect I take Xbox LIVE I need to go into the connection settings and take it off of automatic and manually enter the IP Address, Gateways, ext. But the manually entered info is the info that my laptop uses to connect to the internet here. I over heard someone saying that they connected through Media Center using the wireless adaptar for the Xbox and was wondering if anyone has heard of that method. You have to download some program or something. Sorry if this is really confusing.

I think that's why you need a router? ISP Router 360/laptop/etc. Once you have a router, you can connect the 360 and a computer at the same time. The ISP just sees the router, so you don't have to enter any special settings into your laptop or the 360. Well, you might have to use your laptop to set up the router once, but once you do that you connect the 360 with no problem. That's what I did anyway.
