Fall 2009: What Have You Bought And How ...

Well, it's that time of year again. The leaves are falling, our days are getting shorter, and our bank accounts remain empty. Yes, the busy fall release schedule is upon us. What have you bought thus far and how are you enjoying it?Here's my list:Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising - The best tactical shooter to grace the 360 is not without it's share of problems. The game is buggy and many of the features that Codemasters promised were left out. However, there's still lots of fun to be had. Co-op is great and the tactical approach is a nice change of pace. The game also benefits from having a ''hardcore'' following, which Codemasters said they would reward (waiting to exhale) with DLC every month. They're also very busy on working on patch to fix many issues the game has, however, as it stands now, the multiplayer is atrocious.

Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition - Simply amazing. I have no problem for paying $70 CAD for a game like this because there's so much content packed in. For some reason I didn't pick this game up when it released last year, and then I heard about this little miracle and decided to wait. Do I Like it more than Oblivion? Personally, no. But it definitely cracks my top favourite current-gen titles. I personally find it odd that you can't scavenge for parts to customize a weapon. It just seems that it would fit the overall theme and setting of the game.

I also rented Halo: ODST. Coming from a PC background, I view this game as nothing more than an expansion pack. Unfortunately, it was not priced as such and yet it still sold very well. I liked the game, but I personally feel it got a bit more praise than it deserved. That's just my opinion, so please don't take it so strongly. This is just the tip of the iceberg for me. I still plan on getting Forza 3 and of course, Modern Warfare 2. Unlike most years, there's still high profile releases coming out after the holiday season. Mass Effect 2, Mafia II, Alan Wake, BioShock 2, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Battlefield Bad Company 2, and so many more games all inflate the beginning of next year to astronomical wallet-beating proportions. I don't know how I'm to find the money or time to play all of these games!Anyways, what have you bought and how are you enjoying it?Fall 2009: What Have You Bought And How ...
Magna Carta 2 - A good RPG with a pretty good story line. If you liked Magna Carta for the PS2, you will definitely like this.

I am going to buy Dragon Age origins when it comes out.Fall 2009: What Have You Bought And How ...
I Bought ODST (Liked It) Though It Was A Little Short...But I Also Understand That's It's An Expansion Pack. Also Borderlands Is A Great Game Indeed(Im Waiting For Assasin's Creed 2)My Beautiful 60$ Were Happy When They Saw This Game Being Given To Me At The Cash Register...lol :P
So far:

ODST: I loved it for the first 2 weeks. But once I got all the acheivements (1000/1000G) (yay) Im not playing it at all. And Firefight was only fun going for the acheivements, but now since I wont get anything out of it, it feels like a whaste of time. Unlike Horde, where the fun never ends, even if you gain nothing..

Thats it so far. Im planning on getting Borderlands VERY soon, and maybe Assassins Creed 2.
Operation Flashpoint - which had a glitch stopping me from finishing the damn thing :(

Borderlands - slightly dissapointed

Brutal Legend- also dissapointing
Halo 3: ODSTA great campaign with great multiplyer! I've played SO much firefight recently. It's been LOADS of fun for me!BorderlandsAn amazing RPG that is so great! TONS of guns, leveling, vehicles, lotsa enemies, and character custumization!
Well i recently bought a pretty nice hoody from target, some UNLV basketball shorts, a nice fitting shirt ( i like em' tight, makes me feel manly), other than that i'll be getting cod MW2, but then again, who isn't
Well so far I got Halo 3: ODST, which I have traded in, Brutal Legend, which is better than I expected and Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition, which is awesome and I can't believe that I didn't get the game sooner, I've also pre-ordered Assassin's Creed 2 and I may be getting ModernWarfare 2, but im not bothered if I don't get that.
Nothing for 360 yet but I have Dragon Age and Assassin's Creed II preordered and both games look amazing. I also have Ratchet %26 Clank: A Crack in Time preordered for PS3 and it looks great too. For other games I've bought this fall (in order of purchase):1. Muramasa: The Demon Blade (Wii)- A fast, fun and addictive game. Graphics are gorgeous and the soundtrack is great too. Its actually more difficult than I was expecting even on hard, which is a good thing.2. SMT: Devil Survivor (DS)- I've never been a fan of strategy games, but this game is amazing. The story and atmosphere are exactly what you'd expect from a SMT game. The mini-battles that take place after moving your character are a lot of fun too. I also like the concept of time in the game.3. SMT: Persona (PSP)- A bit slow moving and feels a bit outdated but a decent game so far. Not quite as good as I was hoping though.4. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 (PS3)- Exactly what I was expecting: awesome. It feels faster paced than NGS1 and the weapons are a lot of fun to use. Also the addition of Momiji and Ayane is great. And how could you not love a game with Ryu Hayabusa in it?5. Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (DS)- New characters but the same KH charm. I found Organization XIII to be really interesting in KHII so to get a game and learn the backstory and learn more about Roxas is really cool. I wasn't sure how the gameplay was going to translate onto the DS but it came out great. My only problem (and a minor one at that) is that the control pad starts hurting my thumb after a while. An analog stick would have been better suited for control, but this game still controls great and the story is great too.6. Demon's Souls (PS3)- A fun, but challenging game. The combat is great, but can get pretty tough, especially when you're in Soul Form. Everything you do in this game feels like an achievment. You have to earn every inch in this game. I'm not very far, but I love it so far (when I'm not dying all the time of course :P)7. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (PS3)- WOW. This is easily a top 10 game for me. Every aspect of this game is amazing from graphics, to story, to environment. Everything. A really engaging game that will hold your attention through. Presentation is top notch. Multiplayer is a lot of fun too. I don't normally play MP, but this is one game I know I'll be coming back to.
I've bought these game so far this year:
  • Halo 3: ODST
  • Tales of Vesperia
  • Batman: Arkham Asylum
ODST was fun but i stopped playing it for some reason. Need to play it again. Same goes for Vesperia. Batman on the other hand... all I can say is that I should have rented it instead :(
I think my most recent ones have been --

360: Brutal Legend (only played it a little bit, seemed cool) Borderlands (I like it, wouldn't say I love it though. I'm always down for what it brings, but I'm still in evaluation mode of this game)Defense Grid (pretty cool XBLA game, good value)Lucidity (it's ok, a bit on the frustrating side, good for a rainy day)Tornado Outbreak (hey somebody had to buy it... It's a kids game and is easy, but I kinda like it, I think it's fun. There's nothing great about it, but it does deserve more than to be completely buried underneath the other fall releases)Tales of Vesperia (haven't opened it)Halo ODST (haven't opened it, it was my freebie in the Toys 'R' Us 3-for-2)PS3:Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (My GOTY so far by a good margin, first playthrough was as good of a gaming experience as I've had in three or four years. Multiplayer is a lot of fun. Subsequent playthroughs have revealed a couple blemishes that hinder the game a bit, but it's still probably my favorite of this generation so far)Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (Cool game. It's a notch below Uncharted 2 but still very much worth going back and playing)Demon's Souls Deluxe Edition (haven't played it yet and probably won't get around to it for a while, I just felt I had to get my hands on a copy now instead of risking it being too hard to find later.)Wii:Muramasa: The Demon Blade (I liked it ok. It was fun and looked great, but I wish there would have been more of a story.)NyxQuest: Kindred Spirits (Really really cool little 2D platformer. One of this year's hidden gems.) PC:Plants vs. Zombies (holy crap I loved this game. Sooo much fun, very addicting. It's a bit too easy, but it's still awesome. And it's coming to XBLA down the line. If they can perform a strong transition from PC to 360 -- which I'm skeptical about -- this should be a strong seller on XBox Live.)Audiosurf (Pretty cool game, although it didn't keep me coming back for more). That covers probably the last two months or so.
Dirt 2 pretty sweet game but racing games dont have replayabiltyHalo 3 ODST Very good game but not enough in the gamenow i waiting for Borderlands... hasnt arrived at my local best buy yet..(kinda frustrating)
I havent bought much over the fall so I'll include my summer games too. Lets see:Resident Evil 5: 8/10, great game, not as fun singleplayer as RE4 was, but still an addictive game nonthelessTales of Vesperia: 9/10, awesome game, spent over 130 hours on it, one of the best current gen JRPGPersona 4/3: 10/10, different from your normal RPG, long and engrossing, the best JRPGs this gen (or last gen, whatever works)Need for Speed Shift: 7/10, terrible physics and not very realistic, but it definitely makes you feel good about speed past other drivers at 160 MPHBlazBlue: 9/10, like the core fighting better than Street Fighter IV, great multiplayerThats it so far. I still want to get Modern Warfare 2, Forza 3, and maybe Borderlands or GTA: Episodes
Brutal Legend, Borderlands, and I'm getting Dragon Age.I'm not going to buy a lot of games until Black Friday as I plan on spending around $240.

Borderlands: Great fun multiplayer with a kool campaign.Saw: Despite the crap combat system, saw made a great game for any SH freaks who are ready to challenge themself.NBA 2K10: It is basketball and it is repetitive but hey, its a basketball game, thats also fun.Terminator Salvation: An older game but it still looked good. The campaign was too short and was repetitive, it had a solid cover fire system and split screen co op, so it wasn't that bad.Onchebara: Sucked.
Borderlands - Insanely unique and awesome hybrid. My Game of the Year for sure.Gears of War - I know, I'm late to the party. It's a very fun third-person shooter. Well worth $14.99.
For 360,, the ones I can think of are....

Batman....Bought it ages ago but just started playing it. Seems good.

Halo Wars...Only played the training level so far.

Banjo Kazooie N%26B.....Haven't even opened it yet.

ODST...Loved it.

Brutal Legend.....The more I play it the more I don't like it. I may never finish it. I have to force myself to play it. I loved it at first.

Dishwasher: Dead Samurai....Haven't played it yet.

Ninja Blade....Nothing special.
