Go get a PS3 then? If you don't want to pay for online then you are obviously on the wrong console then, and $50 a year is chump change. How much do you pay for your cell phone bill, insurance, or rent etc?

You know what they should at least do? Give you a free year when you buy certain things. The wireless adapter is $100. Throw in a 6 month or 1 year subscription. The 120 gig HDD is $150. Throw in 6 months or a year. Buy 10 games? Get 6 months or a year. I know that Live will never be free. They make WAY too much money on it. But why not give back alittle?
Post this in system wars next time...As an Xbox Live user for three years now, the $50 I spend yearly is definitely worth the money for all the perks we get. Playing online games for a PS3 is a pain...if you have many online friends, try to coordinate a game in the same lobby. On xbox 360, this is so easy to do.

1. $50 a year isnt that much, and you are not forced to buy.

2. yes, the wireless adapter is a joke, but you got another option of using wired internet.

3. learn more, and you will see ps3 online play is way behind xbox live.

4. Microsoft is a company not a charity org. just so you know money = business.

5. I believe you dont need to be gold to buy DLC.
C: So, you own an Xbox 360 yet you don't know that you can buy anything off the Xbox Marketplace without a gold account? That sounds fishy to me. By the way, you can look for sales online no one forces you to buy an XBL gold membership.

Meh, 50 dollars is not that big of a deal, if you have the money to be a gamer it's really an insignificant purchase.The rest of your reasons aren't really reasons.
This is the worst argument I've seen thus far giving reasons to why Xbox LIVE should be free. Just as the guy above said, Microsoft isn't your mother. So why don't you just go get a job and quit complaining? Its not going to change if you continue to argue about it, they aren't going to give you free Xbox LIVE time for buying their hardware, and they don't really care if you rather buy a game instead of Xbox LIVE.
50 buks a year is chump change and especially for a great service thats best out of the consoles. I will admit though the wireless adapter is overpriced though and should have been built in but that isnt a reason xbox live should be free.
The only reason I can think of, why Xbox LIVE should be free, is that most gamers are very tight with their money and XBL being free would stop all the moaning.

This I do agree on. You get 3 months with the 60gb drive but should be a year. I would buy the adapter if it came with a few months or credit towards a game. I think it would be good business since ppl would tend to keep their account once they play for a while. I don't think live should be free though because even though PS2 is free, it is no where near as good as live. And yes I have a ps3.

A few games I've purchased had either free content from pre-orders, two day trials and even one-month subscriptions. but it'd be better to see it more often.
