Yeah everything is still there. Mine actually ran out a few weeks ago, I'm not gonna renew it until I get MW2.
I'm pretty sure even your gamertag is saved so if you renew live later you can even have the same gt.
Your live will never run out .You have silver membership now so you still have xbox live just not gold.you can still download demos and talk to freinds check leaderboards.you cant play games online though :(

ODST Messed Up Achievement... Solutions?
So I just beat ODST on Co-Op... twice... I got all of the Achievements except the Costal Highway one and then obvious the three for beating the game on legendary. Sat through the credits and waited a few minutes and nada. This is pretty ridiculous we pretty much played straight through, gamertags never changed or anything. Any solutions? I don't want to keep beating it over and over again to no avail. I even redid the last level and nothing.ODST Messed Up Achievement... Solutions?

Major Nelson's site states that the new dashboard release will block any third-party 'unauthorized' memory units! There was a large argument surrounding the 'Datel' Max Memory memory cards, one of which i own, because Microsoft had not released a list of unauthorized memory modules and the Datel units are big sellers.

From the look of the trailer of Borderlands it looks like to me a bit like Fallout 3...should i buy this game???A bit like Fallout 3..

The story lines are kinda similar, but the two games are really nothing alike. I still think Fallout 3 is the better game, but, yes, you should absolutely buy this game. It is well worth your money.

I love the use of CoD controls in it. I heard Fallout 3 was more of an RPG than a shooter. Borderlands has a healthy amount of shooter in it, but enough role playing to keep it interesting. I didn't play Diablo much, but I think that probably is a better comparison-only this shooting is much more satisfying than clicking.Love someWRPGs (Mass Effect, KOTOR) but this game is definitely a cool mix of shooter and RPG.

The only thing remotely like Diablo in Borderlands is the allocation of skills. Which you do in Fallout 3 as well. Borderlands is post-apocolyptic and has that Road Warrior/Mad Max feel, as does Fallout 3. Its an FPS/RPG, as is Fallout. Theres ever groups of enemies with a leader that had green glowing on him in Borderlands, not unlike the Glowing Ones in Fallout 3. Saying that Borderlands is more like Diablo than Fallout 3is a major oversight.

Ok so i went with the whole medic direction but now think i want to try something els.Can i erase my skill points and start over but still keep my lvl ?I dont want to have to start a whole new character again just torespec.any ideas if this is possable?Borderlands. How do i respec myself

A new tier for xbox live membership at $ ...
I have seen rumors abound concerning M$ raising yearly membership fees. What if they are not raising prices, just adding a new tier- Silver membership(how this is considered membership, I have no idea)free, Gold membership $50 and Platinum(made up name)membership $100.I have thought about this since yesterday and here is my hypothesis. M$ keeps silver membership(free) and gold($50 per year)membership exactly how they stand and with the same amenities they have now. M$ introduces a new tier called ''platinum membership''(I just made up the name), which allows the platinum members free DL of everything. That includes game add-ons, arcade%26 indie games and maybe whole games for a limited amount of time. Also, free netflix rentals and maybe music too, if they get around to adding it.Or Platinum could allow you only Netflix for free. Another of many possibilities is that you get music like any subscription on zune or apple. Obviously giving away everything for free won't work but there could be one free game a year or the ability to have any three arcade games at a time.This way everyone stays where they are but are given the option to upgrade. Sort of like the public option in healthcare![]()

I see what your getting at. Sounds cool. They would obviously have to work out differnet feautures to see if they'll make money. Its not for me, but my firend would jump on platinum without hesitating.I could see it becoming a headache for microsoft to get it all setup. Maybe not. I don't see them giving all DLC for free. But I could see this ''Platinum'' membership be given stuff like everything in the Avatar Marketplace for them is free, gamerpics and themes as well would be free as this does not require as much work to make. Then they could better discounts on Microsoft published products ALL THE TIME. And discounts on media ALL THE TIME. Maybe even some of the that suff for free. They could get many perks Gold members don't have without having to make Map Packs and stuff for free. All my opinion and I know nothing of economics so if this would not work I am sorry.

Could you please explain how Microsoft and third parties (indie developers, artists/ musicians, DLC releases) would both profit from this? Definitely not viable... what happens in various industries is that you pay for a higher tier-membership and then you get a permanant discount on content. For example, you would pay 100$ what the OP suggested and then you get 25% off all content etc. However, there is no way they would let you download everything lol That means that if in a year you expect to pay 50$ for online content, might as well get the 100$ membership since you will then be able to download anything else for free anyhow. OP, what school do you teach at? Can you provide us with some examples of sustainable business models which follow the same principle as you mentioned here?

I suppose I wasn't being clear. I am looking for your ideas and opinions. I am not suggesting that M$ takes the profits for DLC. M$ could very easily work out an agreement with each publishing house. Heck, M$ doesn't even need to include DLC in thier offer. It is open to discussion... do you have anything to add?

M$ could make it so the downloaded content has a time period that the files can be kept- like Netflix. I will not divulge where I teach but I can say I also work for the Von Mises Institute. The whole discussion really revolves around Pachter's prediction. I have to say that I am not very impressed by this guy. Wedbush Morgan could have hired almost any of you people that use this website with about the same results, if not better.
The rumor you speak of was started by a analysist who was justing saying something outragious so that he can put his name out in the news. From economic perperceptive why would Microsoft double the price of XBox Live, when the other systems have free alternatives? If the analysist would have said Microsoft to raise the price of XBox Live to $75 it wouldn't have made that big of wave. This would have been more of realistic amount for an increase to announce. If I were to predict an increase for XBox it would be $65.

I see what your getting at. Sounds cool. They would obviously have to work out differnet feautures to see if they'll make money. Its not for me, but my firend would jump on platinum without hesitating.I could see it becoming a headache for microsoft to get it all setup. Maybe not. Do they own everything on the marketplace, or do they get a percent of profit for hosting content?
I don't see them giving all DLC for free. But I could see this ''Platinum'' membership be given stuff like everything in the Avatar Marketplace for them is free, gamerpics and themes as well would be free as this does not require as much work to make. Then they could better discounts on Microsoft published products ALL THE TIME. And discounts on media ALL THE TIME. Maybe even some of the that suff for free. They could get many perks Gold members don't have without having to make Map Packs and stuff for free. All my opinion and I know nothing of economics so if this would not work I am sorry.

Could you please explain how Microsoft and third parties (indie developers, artists/ musicians, DLC releases) would both profit from this? Definitely not viable... what happens in various industries is that you pay for a higher tier-membership and then you get a permanant discount on content. For example, you would pay 100$ what the OP suggested and then you get 25% off all content etc. However, there is no way they would let you download everything lol That means that if in a year you expect to pay 50$ for online content, might as well get the 100$ membership since you will then be able to download anything else for free anyhow. I suppose I wasn't being clear. I am looking for your ideas and opinions. I am not suggesting that M$ takes the profits for DLC. M$ could very easily work out an agreement with each publishing house. Heck, M$ doesn't even need to include DLC in thier offer. It is open to discussion... do you have anything to add?

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know if there are any unique weapon drops in Borderlands? I mean I realize its not a persistant world like WoW or whatever, but I was just curious if every lvl 21 Solider basically will have more or less the same equipment depending on what quests/bosses they have faced?Loot in Borderlands...
Well I think all the boss's drop the same thing, like Sledge's Shotgun. But other than that, most everything else is random. I've played with a lot of soldiers and they all seem to have a different variation of a rifle or shotgun.Loot in Borderlands...

XBOX 360 Router Problems?!
Hi guys,
I picked up Forza 3 today and am having some trouble connecting online. My NAT type is STRICT and I'm using an old ****BT Home Hub. I've tried port forwarding ports such as 80, 88, 53 etc etc according to tutorials but to no avail. The xbox appears on the router's settings, so I've tried forwarding to it by name, and also by IP (by setting the 360's IP to static and copying it across to the route settings). I have no idea why it still doesn't work and it's driving me crazy! :evil:Any help would be much appreicated. Does the NAT settings depend implicitly on the router? If so I'm seriously considering getting another device, could someone recommend me a good router with OPEN NAT settings?

Okay, when all else fails just open the DMZ in your router specifically to the xbox's IP address. Usually routers just let you do it to one IP address but it's good to be on the safe side.
Eugh my 360 doesn't appear in the drop down list of devices in the DMZ menu... It appears everywhere else but not here :/. The only option I have is to assign the DMZ service ''Internet'' to my laptop, but not to my xbox. :(

Fable, hands down. Didn't have the urge to keep playing as I did with the 1st, which I really enjoyed. I'll get around to it, one day. I second Max Payne too. The original was a memorable classic and it's sequel not so much.

Since the original MGS, I haven't seen another action game that actually had a story as complete and engrossing. In my opinion it's the best action game of all time. All the action games today are shooters. MGS is reason it took me awhile get into games like Halo and Gears of War because of their lack of a story. Don't get me wrong both games are great shooters, but just imagine one of them having an engrossing story like MGS. I my opinion that would have of made those games two to three times better than what they are today.

Just try and convince a fan of the first three RE's that RE4 is the best game in the franchise. It won't happen. Many gamers have really great memories of the early titles in a franchise, and when they take a significant turn like RE did, they refuse to excpet that is is a turn for the better.

I just got my third xbox, and it seems a little different to me. first, it makes sort of a weird noise when I put a disk in and turn it on. On my old one, the only noise I remember was a loud whirring, but the whirring was consistent-sounding. Also this particular xbox sounds very loud when running. I have a subwoofer/home theater, and at one point I could hear the xbox over it! My question is this: could this xbox I just got be made a little bit differently than my last one, meaning that the sounds are normal? And also, what does everyone else's xbox sound like?

Make sure you take out the Extra Warranty out, it's worth the extra 50 bucks just to take it back to the store and exchange it instead of going through MS.Sorry but my last 3 Xbox360 sounded bad when started up and runningand all 3 lasted less then a year.
The Failure rate for a 360 is way higher then 60% I think its more near 150% percent..Mine sounds like a Jet Plane..There really good in the winter time, I just turn my 360 on and it heats up my room! i love it ;)

To put it simply, it's loud.
There are two main noisemakers in the 360: the disc drive and the fan. My fan is obscenely loud if the Xbox is on its side, but quiet when it's put upright.

Yes I do waste 50 bucks a month... however its better than the free service I get from psn because the playstation has a lackluster support for good games.... So ye I waste my money because there is nothing better out there.... although I have been getting into steam lately

Hmmm. Interesting, so its just the video HD quality and not compressed sound data as well? I have both the ps3 %26 360 so guess it doesn't matter. It seems like they would be able to compress the sound very soon.
Perhaps they should just focus on the fact that its a videogame system and think of video game fucntionality, this multi media nonsense kick that they are on is going overboard. The seem more focused on that than on the fact that its a video game console. If I want to watch a DVD I will use a DVD player, you don't see bluray players with an Xbox 360 add on. They need to start focusing on what the thing is suppose to do, not focus on making it do what everything else does.

it will happen. Microsoft have been dealing on it since 2008, people just don't wanna realize it.
I personally don't think blu-ray will even last that long. If you look at how technology is advancing its all through downloadable data. That's right, non-physical. Xbox will have 1080p HD movies, and already have games for downloads. (Hopefully tv shows soon)

Its much cheaper because you cut out the middle man or shipping distribution costs. Nobody has to develop my photos, I don't need a large company to charge me 30% on my video games. I don't have to worry about late fees for rentals, or driving to pickup/return them.
Convenience + cheaper + everything in one place = win.

i dont think blu ray will last either
1080p streaming movies is good and great and all. but there is one small complication. Internet speed. Not everyone has a 6meg+ speed internet. Not all companies offer that speed for your location. I have comcast cable and and can only stream HD shows from netflix, cant with movies. So Microsoft wont get far with this idea, unless they can get everyone real fast internet. Cuz you know a true HD movie is huge uncompressed, sound and all

it will happen. Microsoft have been dealing on it since 2008, people just don't wanna realize it.
I personally don't think blu-ray will even last that long. If you look at how technology is advancing its all through downloadable data. That's right, non-physical. Xbox will have 1080p HD movies, and already have games for downloads. (Hopefully tv shows soon)

i dont think blu ray will last either
1080p streaming movies is good and great and all. but there is one small complication. Internet speed. Not everyone has a 6meg+ speed internet. Not all companies offer that speed for your location. I have comcast cable and and can only stream HD shows from netflix, cant with movies. So Microsoft wont get far with this idea, unless they can get everyone real fast internet. Cuz you know a true HD movie is huge uncompressed, sound and all

Hey I'm from Australia and I'm going to sell my current 360 and get the elite and there's a few things I would like to know. Not all Elites have the Jasper chip. Some will have the Falcon still.

And to Xsan3, if people are going to pay for something, then microsoft will never make it free. I remember a couple of years ago, people started a rumor that if XBL saw 1 million people with ''Free Xbox Live'' or something to that effect, then they would make it free, but they didn't. My advice, quite being cheap, pay the $50, and join in on the fun you are missing.

I'm so confused by what this post is to actually mean...? If you think about why MMOs charge you 15$ a month it's server mateninance, updates, add-on content, etc... etc... And that is just for one game UNO! XBL is taking that from each game and making it more streamling 50$ a month for every game you could buy, minus FFXI. I just don't get why people complain about paying for it. Trust me I own and love my PS3 but the free services can't even compare.
IMO if your not going to get Live you might as well sell your 360, Live is THE best thing on Xbox 360 and without it I would have gotten bored of my 360 long ago, so just stop been cheep and buy it.

Yes I did, but I wouldn't have been able to buy Shadow Complex if I hadn't had an Xbox Live Membership, and most single player games don't last more than a weekend these days and wilth out Gold to play online most of the year there would be nothing.
If MS stopped charging for Gold I would probably stop playing Online. Security would crash, Cheating would take over. The last thing we need is the total Joke that the PS3 online is.I would go back to being a Hardcore PC user

This build is pretty self-sufficient and will be great for when your friends finally do jump on (cauterize will be loved by all)use mainly assault rifles because with the skill you get a 45% magazine size bonus so putting more than one point into overload is a serious overkill. Also once you get a good amount of shields, those shield regen skills will come in seriously handy by yourself. Also the bullet resistance and health regen skill i think are invaluable for someone who is going to play SP most of the time, cause you will be absorbing all the hits and will need to be able to stay and fight for a little while

I am looking for the wolf's lair map for the office quest in sacred 2. His site has been down and i'd like to get started on the quest tonight i was hoping that someone on here might have the image that i could upload to my pc instead of getting it from the down site. im 95% sure that it adds to your current health regen, so if you were regenerating 1 health per second you would now be regenerating 5.

preorder from amazon. if you do it early enough (before the last week prior to release) they'll give you release-day delivery for free.
as for myself, its getting WAYYY overhyped. ive gotten more skeptical as its gotten closer to release. i may or may not get it after release. that being the case, i may just pick the saboteur or maybe brutal legend or even just wait until mass effect 2 or bioshock 2 early next year. ive got plenty of games to play until then
I'm not getting it the day it comes out. Will most likely get it for Christmas. I'm getting Forza 3 and Dragon Age, and just picked up Borderlands after school. I've got enough games this fall without Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 anyway.

This used to be a day 1 buy but the more I think about the less I want it. I probably won't get it all, but if I do, it won't be day 1 and definitely not at midnight. I've never been to a midnight release and only plan to ever to go one for FFXIII.

Then yes, I'm pretty sure it will be open to that much, there will probably be certain parts that are more linear than others and some parts where you're left to fend for yourself with little direction other than a few sidequests. This is all speculation but it's going to be a good mix of the two genres. Personally I like games like this better than either fully linear or fully open world, as the former restricts exploring and the feeling of adventure, while the latter restricts story potential.
Yeah, I can't wait for this game to come out. It's going to be sick.
After the first few hours, Dragon Age become largely open world, though I do believe you have to travel sort of like Mass Effect. Not like in Oblivion where it is free roam, and the whole map is open to you, and you roam where and when you choose.
i watch the videos to this game every time i see a new one @ video marketplace and i can't wait for this to be released.

Pretty much any game Bioware releases is good, in my opinion.
This game is going to be awesome it is quite literally not possible for me to be more excited about a game.
btw I thick most of you guys are right, some parts are liner but that you can break off from the main quest at certain points and do side missions and explore, however as far as I know certain sections of the map and certain side missions will only become available once you have completed up to a certain point of the main story.wrinkles

Then yes, I'm pretty sure it will be open to that much, there will probably be certain parts that are more linear than others and some parts where you're left to fend for yourself with little direction other than a few sidequests. This is all speculation but it's going to be a good mix of the two genres. Personally I like games like this better than either fully linear or fully open world, as the former restricts exploring and the feeling of adventure, while the latter restricts story potential.

After the first few hours, Dragon Age become largely open world, though I do believe you have to travel sort of like Mass Effect. Not like in Oblivion where it is free roam, and the whole map is open to you, and you roam where and when you choose.
i watch the videos to this game every time i see a new one @ video marketplace and i can't wait for this to be released.

I'm currently playin marvel UA 2 and BORDERLANDS...my console is around 5months old i think..... While playing MUA2 there are no freezes but certain low frame rate issues in some areas of the game... borderlands and other games r runnin fine... In most games it should be pretty acceptable to maintain a 1:1 ratio. I mean damn, if you can't kill SOMEONE before you die, you better have just started playing.

not to rip on tc, but...does anyone else notice that the skill division on cod 4 is very wide? the lowest kdr i have ever seen in halo 3 is .79, and the highest ive seen is 1.5. in cod 4, ive seen people who were like .57 (and this is with more than 30,000 kills logged, which should mean they played enough of the game to, yknow, improve) and then ive seen people with like 2.5. its kind of like quake actually, my kdr in quake live is like .54 (yeah... i know... -_-) but my friend has a kdr of 3.21.

On PC mine's about .55 and I'm level 53. I've had my fair share of 10:30 games, and whenever I get 20+kills, the deaths are never far behind. I live with it, it's just a matter of adjusting your expectations.

Loved Shift. Loved Forza 3 demo once I turned off the assists. Dissappointed in the damage modeling in F3 though. I really don't have the money right now, I'm buying MW2. But I might give it a shot sometime.
